Our first Boot Camp

For our latest round of staff selections we decided to enroll the short-listed 28 candidates in a week-long boot-camp.

It gave Em and Justin the chance to explain our values and methodologies, and put the candidates under pressure at the same time. At the end of the week we offered positions to half of them.

Here’s a picture of Em addressing the candidates early in the week.
Some of the exercises were to check team-work, leadership, and the ability to handle pressure.
Also needed to check if they were willing to act silly. Not sure how the child judges felt about it all!
As with all Transform functions, there were lots of food!
More team-work. All this is happening in our training facility located in Centre 6.

The First Rice Day at Canaan House

Manager Phanra welcomes families to their first rice day, when we supply 20kg of rice for each family, and also have the opportunity to interact with them.

Most of these parents have no education at all, so everything we do with their kids is exciting and new.
The kids perform for the families, with the backdrop of two tonne of rice!

Opening Day!

Centre 7 opened for the first time on Monday March 22nd. What an exciting time after all the planning and preparation! Here parents walk their kids from the meeting point at school to the Centre.
All the staff from Centre 7 and Centre 8 were on hand to welcome the new children and their parents.
We will spend a lot of time in the first week training behaviours – including hygiene lessons like this one, where Sopheap and Dany show how to wash hands properly.
How awesome to see the kids together for the first time, and imagine the future that awaits them. Next time you see them, they will be proudly wearing their uniform.

Scooping….!

This week we are scooping (selecting) kids for Centres 7 and 8.
Here is one of the teams who scour the streets near the Centres looking for likely candidates!
This is how it works…

This girl was with her mother selling drinks outside the local school.
So Sopheap checked how old she was & discussed it with her Mum…
The team then visited her home for photos and verification…
They proceeded to sign her up – another chosen one!

What exciting times!

Here the staff of Centre 7 and Centre 8 go to visit the buildings we have leased for them. Both buildings have a lot of work still to be completed, but will be outstanding.

These two new Centres are located on the north side of town, near the Japanese bridge – so we are spreading out!
